PITCHWORLD

Every great show starts with an idea. And every idea needs a great pitch. Pitchworld is a platform for content creators to develop their story and share their pitch with audiences in a fun and supportive setting.

Announcement!

***ATTENTION CREATORS***

Due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes currently taking place, we have decided not to hold our Pitchworld competition at our 2023 Duluth Catalyst Content Festival. We hope to see you at Pitchworld in 2024! Please keep an eye on our Strikes & Festival Updates page for the most up to date information on all of our festival events.

THE TWO TYPES OF PITCHES

There are two ways to deliver a pitch:

  1. A PITCH DECK: an 8-12 page pdf presentation of your idea using photos, graphics, and text to set the tone and explain the show

  2. IN-PERSON: a live verbal pitch of your idea using your passion and storytelling ability to convey the storyworld to your in-person audience

HOW PITCHWORLD WORKS

In light of the WGA Strike & pending action from SAG-AFTRA, we are reimagining PitchWorld process for this year's festival. For the moment, the pitch categories have been pulled from FilmFreeway as we consult with the WGA to ensure our creators & their stories are protected. We will announce protocols & requirements for the first come, first served iteration of PitchWorld later this summer.

Stay tuned for updates. We look forward to seeing you & your work in Duluth!

HOW DO I MAKE A PITCH DECK?

Creating a pitch deck for TV is different than making a pitch deck for a film. Not many places teach the differences and what needs to go into a TV deck - but we do!

Our institute exists to give storytellers the tools they need to understand the format of a deck, what goes into it, and how it is used. How much of a pitch deck should be text? Photos? Should I focus on the plot points and characters or the larger story world?

Our online and in-person courses will work through all of these steps with you to help create the best possible version of your story. For example, enjoy this institute video showing the process of how a TV pitch makes its way from creator to studio exec:
